A Guardian Angel enhances Shelter pets' quality of life...

A Guardian Angel is someone whose love for the animals rises above merely assisting with their basic care. As a Guardian Angel, your full-year sponsorship helps to furnish the extras that enhance the Shelter pets’ quality of life and special needs. Angels help to provide special bedding, prescription diets, certain medical needs, and even toys.

Everyone needs an angel to watch over them, especially the homeless animals. When you become a Guardian Angel you will know that you are giving the animals the best life at the Shelter while they are awaiting adoption into their forever homes. To honor your generosity, your name and pet’s photo (if desired) will appear on a video display in the Humane Society lobby, and you’ll be listed as a Guardian Angel on our website, hsvb.org. You will also receive a special commemorative gift.

If you have even bigger wings, consider becoming one of the special few in the hierarchy of angels, an Archangel. Angel sponsorships are a wonderful way to honor or remember a beloved pet or person.

A Tooth Fairy improves the Shelter pets' adoptability...

A Tooth Fairy is someone who wants to put a smile on the faces of the Shelter pets. Your full-year sponsorship as a Tooth Fairy helps to fund dental procedures for the adoptable dogs and cats. Many of the dogs and cats arrive at the Shelter suffering varying degrees of dental disease. It is imperative these problems be treated before they cause infection that can enter the bloodstream and affect the heart, kidneys, or liver.

Today's Angels and Fairies of HSVB&IRC are heirs to a proud tradition of caring friends who provide extra support for Shelter animals. One of those special friends was Cornelia Perez.

​Shortly before her death in 2016, Cornelia recorded her recollections of conceiving, organizing, and operating Guardian Angels and Tooth Fairies over many decades. This video was presented at our 2016 Cause For Paws event.

We want to share her memories with you.
